Dream interpretations
A dream about an ex-lover: Is it a regret or a familiar memory?
Examine dreams where you talk and argue with your ex-lover or pass them by from afar. Distinguish missing the person from missing your life at the time, and gives you something to think about when you want to contact them after the dream.

Just because your ex-lover appears in your dream, you don't have to immediately conclude that you have regrets or that you need to get back together. Even if you dream of the same person, it is different if you miss that person, if you are reminded of the times you were together, or if only uncomfortable scenes remain. In this article, rather than guessing the other person's feelings, we look at the encounter you experienced.
Dream of talking and laughing normally
Just because you felt comfortable doesn't necessarily mean you want to date again. It is worth distinguishing whether you liked the familiar atmosphere of that time or whether you actually want to meet that person now. The joy you feel in your dreams and the choices you make when you are awake may be different. There is no contradiction in maintaining a current relationship while happily recalling old memories.
Scenes of fighting or breaking up again
It is important whether the fight in the dream was the same as what happened in real life or whether it was something completely new. The former can be read as an experience of revisiting a scene from one's memory, and the latter can be read as a story in which a familiar character takes on a role in a different conflict. In either case, it cannot be assumed that there are unresolved feelings. Start by distinguishing whether the remaining emotion is anger or regret.
Seeing your ex from a distance, passing by, or seeing their new partner
An action of not reaching out can be read in many ways, including regret, indifference, and respect for boundaries. If your ex had a new partner in the dream, consider whether you felt compared with them or calmly accepted that your ex was living a different life. Dreams do not tell you the person's actual relationship status.
If you want to contact someone after having a dream
First, separate your reason for wanting to contact them from the dream and summarize it in one sentence. The meaning of an action varies depending on whether you are curious about their well-being, have something to apologize for, or want to meet again. You should also consider the other person's current situation and boundaries regarding contact. There is no reason to expect that contact in real life will be welcomed just because you were friendly in a dream.
